Brief introduction

Resveratrol was first discovered in 1924 and first isolated from the roots of Veratrum grandiflorum by the Japanese in 1940. In 1976, Res (resveratrol) was also found in the leaves of grapes, which is an antitoxin secreted by plants under stress or in the presence of pathogens. The synthesis of Res increases dramatically when the plants are exposed to ULTRAVIOLET radiation, mechanical damage and fungal infection, so it is called phytoalexin. Res has been found in more than 700 plants, including 72 species of 31 genera and 12 families, with high concentrations in grapes, knotweed and peanuts.
